Call for Applications for the Whatcom County Arts and Culture Festival

Allied Arts of Whatcom County is working with organizations throughout Whatcom County on a three-day Cultural Arts Festival to take place in Fairhaven, June 21-23, 2018. The Call for Proposals is available now at www.alliedarts.org and is due by February 15, 2018.

The festival will kick off with the Historic Fairhaven Fourth Friday Art Walk and run throughout the weekend. It will be a collaborative project with the Historic Fairhaven Association, Bellingham/ Whatcom Tourism Bureau, Sculptures NW, Native Arts Collective and the Whatcom Artist Guild and more. Funded in part by City of Bellingham Tourism, Whatcom Tourism, Whatcom Community Foundation - Project Neighborly Grants, and other local contributions. The Fairhaven Village Green will be the main hub for booths and performances with Fairhaven businesses hosting specials and activities throughout Fairhaven. Allied Arts of Whatcom County will oversee the coordination of the event. All groups are encouraged to apply.  Activities and events will focus on the arts, music, performance, food, presentations, and workshops highlighting the diverse cultural communities in Whatcom County with the goal of promoting cultural diversity.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
