Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema 2019 Summer Movies in the Park

The Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema opens its 20th season of outdoor entertainment and big-screen movies on June 22, 2019 at the Village Green in the Fairhaven District of Bellingham, WA. The summer series runs Saturday evenings through August 24 and includes a variety of films ranging from laugh-along comedies to family favorites.

The season opener on June 22 features the comedy classic "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off" with entertainment by Bellingham cirque favorite Strangely. On June 29, the animated sensation “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” takes the big screen with Bellingham Circus Guild performers Wren and Della opening this show.

July showings include action and romance in “Top Gun” on July 6, the rock and roll story of the band Queen in “Bohemian Rhapsody” on July 13, family favorite “Mary Poppins Returns” on July 20 and the 1999 rom-com “10 Things I Hate About You” on July 27.

Events continue in August with the 1993 adventure classic “Jurassic Park” on Aug. 3, animated action in “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” on Aug. 10, and musical classic “Grease” on Aug 17. In true Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema tradition, “The Princess Bride” will be featured at the series finale on Aug. 24.

More than movies, the Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema includes a variety of live music and entertainment. Movies are shown on the 30-foot screen at the Village Green in the historic Fairhaven community of south Bellingham. Events are rain or shine with ground seating available on grass and very limited chair seating on the surrounding brick areas. Admission is $5 per person. Attendees five and under are free.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
