Is Fair Trade Really Fair?

Bellingham-Based importer Edwin Martinez knows the coffee business, from the most remote grower in Guatamala to the man-bunned barista on Capital Hill and he thinks globally averaged profit sharing hurts the industry. Unlike most food, the quality of coffee is quantifiable, says Edwin Martinez. If he and another pro taster in a different part of the world were to evaluate the same coffee, they'd likely come up with near identical scores.
