Kuntz and Company, a non-profit, dance theatre company founded and directed by Pam Kuntz in Bellingham, WA, presents THREADS, a dance theater piece that explores the fabric of memories, Oct. 26 and 27, 2017 at the Firehouse Performing Arts Center, 1314 Harris Ave, Bellingham.
Do you remember that shirt your father used to wear while working in the yard, or the apron your grandmother wore every year while making Thanksgiving dinner? THREADS, a theatrical dance piece explores our history through the fabrics of our family. Performers investigate a father's navy whites, a mother's pre and post cancer blouses, and a great aunt's swimsuit from her days in the Aqua Follies. Dancers Kate Stevenson ("The Mom Project" and "Prison Pieces"), Vanessa Daines ("The Family Project" and "Positive") and Yuki Matsukura ("Airings...voices of our youth") not only pull from their own family member's closets, they also dive into the clothing of our community to share the lives of those around us.
“I wore this Pendleton skirt when I was a Junior at Park High. I actually think this was the skirt I wore at the school dance when Wally asked me to dance the final dance, the necking dance. I would NEVER do the twist but I did slow dance.”
Some playful, some serious, all heartfelt, the stories in THREADS invite a bounce back in time and the invitation to visit the fabric of your memories.

Kuntz and Company formed in 2005, became a nonprofit organization in 2011 led by Artistic Director Pam Kuntz in Bellingham, Washington. This organization is dedicated to telling community stories of social significance through dance and theater, taking on projects by request. There are eight members on the Board of Directors and several past and current artistic collaborators. Richard Scholtz is the current board chair and president.
