Seven mountain peaks you must admire in Washington state

From a distance, the mountains of the Cascade and the Olympic ranges look formidable and inaccessible. The jagged peaks have been compared to bared teeth, spikes and a picket fence. At higher elevations, they’re dotted with glaciers and streaked with avalanche runs. The Cascades’ volcanoes are dormant or quiet, but every now and then a puff of steam from Mount Baker or Mount St. Helens reminds us of the possibilities. Take advantage of the last weeks of summer and visit or admire a mountain before the snow flies. Read about the mountain peaks here.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
