St. Patty's Day Parade

This weekend was the second annual Bellingham St. Patrick's Day Parade and also the second year that the Tourism Bureau participated.  It's a great community event that's more than just lepechauns and beer, mind you.  From the Bellingham St. Patrick's Day web site:

The parade is in honor of the Bellingham Police and Fire Departments, but itʼs also a chance to green up our community and celebrate all the great businesses, groups, schools and nonprofits that make this community what it is.
Environmental protection and sustainability are two important goals of the all-volunteer parade committee. The Bellingham St. Patrick's Day Parade is working toward being truly "green" so we encourage creative designs for human and/or green-powered entries. While green is the goal, vehicles are not prohibited. We encourage creative use of alternative sources of energy. Walk or take the bus downtown for parade day. Bike to the parade...or better yet, bike IN the parade! Decorate your float with reclaimed, recycled, reusable materials. Assemble your parade day costume with green gear from Bellingham's many thrift stores! This day is about celebrating all the ways we can be GREEN!
Here we are last year (I am down by the wagon with my twin sons, my daughter is standing with our Director of Marketing, Jacqueline and our Director of Sales, Mike): That's our fancy tourism van, if you've never seen it around town. I don't have a picture from this year as it was raining and I had my hands full enough with three kids to worry about the camera, but we had a ton of fun riding in the van and waving to everyone, and the rain didn't stop people from participating, or coming out and cheering everyone on.  There was a lot of green, a few floats included kegs of beer, and everyone had a great time.  Check out the St. Patrick's Day Parade Facebook page for more pictures and be sure to come next year!
