The Whatcom Museum's Family Interactive Gallery Reopening

The Whatcom Museum is excited to announce that after a year of closure, the Family Interactive Gallery (FIG), inside the Lightcatcher building, is ready to welcome visitors back. During our closure, we've taken the opportunity to refresh the space with exciting new features, as well as many safety protocols.

Starting April 1, 2021, the FIG will reopen to the public at 25% capacity with reduced hours and limited visitor capacity. All visitors, including members, must make a reservation in advance to visit the FIG. Each reservation is for 2 hours and available Thursday – Saturday at two-time slots; noon – 2 p.m. or 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.

How reservations work:

  • Reservations are available Thursday through Saturday, with slots at noon and 2:30 p.m.
  • Each reservation is for up to 6 people and lasts for 2 hours.
  • Admission is free to members. General admission rates apply for non-members. Payment will be processed at the time of arrival.
  • A Museum attendant will check visitors in upon arrival and direct them to the FIG. Reservations will be held for 30 minutes.
  • Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance. No same-day reservations or walk-in visits are allowed at this time.

Reservations can be made through WaitWhile, an online reservation platform. We're dedicated to ensuring visitors have an enjoyable, educational experience in the safest way possible. Information about visitor expectations can be found on the Museum's website, as well as a COVID-19 response page with a full list of safety protocols.
