These Unexpected Cities Have the Best Coffee in the U.S.

After a long flight or a day of exploring a city, a rest for a coffee may be nice—nay, necessary. We partnered with Resonance earlier this year to bring you some of America’s Best Small Cities, now we are diving into some of the categories that mean the most to you. First up: your caffeine fix. So how did we do it? Resonance helped us identify the top 20 small cities (less than 600,000 in population) for coffee shops, and we selected cities with offerings ranging from great hikes to museum tours, to pure relaxation—all with a perfect morning joe. Bellingham, Washington This coastal paradise means you can stay in a bustling, caffeinated city, with easy access to nature's wonder. Whale watching and skiing is accessible seasonally, while the slow drip is available year round. Check out the full list here.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
