We heART commUNITY Fundraiser Supports Whatcom Arts Venues

Arts organizations are a vital thread in the fabric of Bellingham and Whatcom County. As the Covid-19 pandemic hit in March 2020, these entities banded together for moral support and created the Whatcom Arts Project to continue connecting people to the arts online. Our arts organizations are united in their desire to uplift our community. Now the community is coming together to uplift our arts venues as they persevere through this pandemic.

This collective fundraiser asks individuals to choose 5 Whatcom County arts organizations and donate $50 to each for a total donation of $250. This show of support, of unity, of love for the entire art community is aptly titled We heART commUNITY.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
