Bellingham Symphony Orchestra Friday Night Concert Aug. 23

The Bellingham Symphony Orchestra will present a special summer baroque performance on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019 at 7 p.m. at Bellingham's Mount Baker Theatre, featuring BSO musicians as soloists, including Deborah Arthur, flute; Gail Ridenour, oboe; and Shu-Hsin Ko, violin.

At this season preview concert, the Symphony will explore musical mirrors between Johann Sebastian Bach and contemporary Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Attendees will hear three Bach classics paired with Pärt’s If Bach Had Been a Beekeeper and Collage on B-A-C-H.

"I'm looking forward to this fun Friday night performance celebrating the strong connection between two incredible composers," says Music Director Yaniv Attar. "I think our audiences will enjoy discovering the musical mirrors on this program, including a piece with a very unusual and extremely clever title, If Bach had been a Beekeeper. And, of course, three of our very own musicians will be performing as soloists at this concert, which I think is so, so special. This simply cannot be missed!"

Tickets for the Friday concert range from $10 to $33 for an opportunity to experience live orchestral performance at a lower price point.

Friday, August 23 at 7 p.m. at Mount Baker Theatre. Tickets start at $10. For details, call the Mount Baker Theatre Box Office at (360) 734-6080 or visit the BSO website at www.bellinghamsymphony.org.

Doors open at 6 p.m. A pre-concert lecture about the program by Dr. Ryan Dudenbostel will take place in the Walton Theatre, beginning at 6:15 pm. These lectures are free for ticket-holders, but seats fill up quickly, so please plan accordingly.
