Ciderfest Offers Tastings, Celtic Music Nov 11 at Bellewood Farms & Distillery

A fall afternoon of cider tasting and live Celtic folk music will be featured during the 11th-annual Ciderfest from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at Whatcom County’s Bellewood Farms & Distillery.

Ciderfest offers 10 hard (alcoholic) cider tastings from Pacific Northwest cideries, plus seven tastings from Bellewood’s own distillery, including its Applewood Smoked Bourbon. The afternoon includes a hard cider homebrew competition ($20 entry fee and $200 cash prize for the winner) and live Celtic folk music performed by Clanna Morna.

“The Pacific Northwest has skilled artisans who produce amazing craft cider,” said Eric Abel, president of Bellewood Farms & Distillery. “Ciderfest offers a chance to taste different varieties and learn how hard cider is made.”

Bellewood Farms is a 62-acre orchard with 22 apple varieties located at 6140 Guide Meridian, Lynden, only 7 miles away from Bellingham, Ferndale and Lynden.

Tickets for Ciderfest are available online for $30 per person and include a commemorative sipping glass. Ciderfest typically sells out before the day of the event and tickets won’t likely be available then, Abel said.

Bellewood Farms & Distillery also includes a market and gift shop, café and bakery. For tickets, homebrew entries and more information, call (360) 318-7720 or visit www.bellewoodfarms.com.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
