From award–winning restaurants to fresh budget-friendly food, Bellingham and Whatcom County is a foodie’s paradise. Restaurants all over Whatcom County take pride in using locally sourced ingredients from nearby farms and local waters.
Locally farmed and fished foods are a mainstay in the Bellingham region. Restaurants typically feature hyper-local menus prepared by creative chefs, using ingredients grown nearby.
Ready for some serious beer tasting? Bellingham and Whatcom County are now home to 15 popular craft breweries, including some of the most decorated and highly respected in the nation. The region’s natural beauty, abundant outdoor recreation and the community-focused population has inspired a range of talented craft brewmasters here.
Whatcom County wines range from traditional varieties featuring Yakima Valley grapes to very unique blends and ingredients, including locally-grown raspberries and hazelnuts. The wineries are open year-round for tastings and tours. Distilleries include an apple orchard making its own vodka, and an urban moonshine maker. Great bars and happy hours are also plentiful.
To round out Bellingham’s food and drink scene, we are home to several amazing coffee roasters and chocolatiers. Head upstairs in the Village Bookstore to taste some fantastic creations, or make your way downtown to start your morning in a bright and delicious mug of Camber Coffee.
