Emergency Repair Outage Planned for Lummi Island Ferry on Wednesday, June 9

The Whatcom Chief will be out of service from 10:10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9th, for repairs to the Gooseberry Point dock hydraulic system. The last maintenance outage revealed failures that must be addressed in a timely fashion, to avoid an unscheduled shutdown of the ferry system.

In summary:

The Lummi Island Ferry will be out of service Wednesday, June 9th, from 10:10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The last morning run from the Gooseberry Point side will be 9:50 a.m. and the last morning run from the Lummi Island side will be 10 a.m.
No additional runs will be made to clear the docks after the last posted run time.
The repair outage must start on time; travelers should plan accordingly for island travel.

Repair activities are weather dependent, and the times and/or date may change. If schedule changes occur, updates will be posted at www.whatcomcounty.us/ferry.The Public Works Department would like to thank everyone in advance for their cooperation and patience during these necessary repairs.
