North Cascades Carnivores Field Class

Calling all wildlife enthusiasts! On September 27th, join North Cascades Institute to learn about the unique lives of the North Cascades most iconic predators. The North Cascades ecosystem is among the most intact wildlands in the contiguous United States—home to species like the wolverine, gray wolf, grizzly bear, and Canada lynx.

Wildlife biologist Bill Gaines has spent decades researching and conserving the carnivores of the North Cascades. In this day-long field trip, he'll lead us through the lives & habitats of these remarkable animals. We’ll begin at the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center and travel along the North Cascades Highway, stopping en route to explore the biology, ecology & conservation of each species, and meeting other wildlife biologists who are studying North Cascades carnivores. Scholarships and Student, Military and Disability discounts are available for most in-person programs. Call for more info!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
