Forest Water Scavenger Hunt for Whatcom Water Week

As part of Whatcom Water Week, join Whatcom Land Trust for a self-guided scavenger hunt at Stimpson Family Nature Reserve and discover how forests help keep our water clean, cool, and flowing. Pick up a family-friendly activity booklet at the trailhead, then explore the trail as you search for mossy logs, trickling streams, and other natural features that help forests filter and store water. Kids can draw, check off clues, and earn a Water Wise take-home memento — plus snap a photo at our fun forest-themed face-in-hole board!

Public Transportation: From Bellingham Station, take Route 512 bus toward Sudden Valley, which arrives at Stimpson. To return to town, take the 512 further into Sudden Valley before it loops back toward Bellingham.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
