The final 2.7-mile section of Mount Baker Highway (SR 542), known as the road to Artist Point, is now closed for the winter season.

SUP Sea Monsters

Close out the season in spook-tacular style. Show off your costumes in our annual paddle parade! This is an open-boating event. Use a CBC paddleboard, kayak or rowboat, or bring your own! Please register even if you are bringing your own boat. Lifejackets will be required, and provided at no extra cost if you do not have one.

Costumes loved but not required! We welcome your mermaid, pirate, kraken, ghost, or whatever you find in your closet!

Check-in at 1pm, at which point we'll gear up and do our spooky safety briefing. We will have a guide on the water and will paddle out together as a group, parading by Taylor Dock. We will land just before 4pm to allow for gear cleanup, but don't worry, the fun doesn't stop there… This season we are pairing with a post-paddle Spooky Salty Social. Join us for an ALL-AGES beer garden, open from 3-6pm, which will feature trick-or-treating, yummy local brews, costume contests and a celebration of our Queer community to wrap up the season!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
