Whatcom Museum Free First Friday - Handmade Holidays

Visit the Whatcom Museum the first Friday of every month for free admission, extended hours until 9 pm (Family Interactive Gallery open until 6 pm), and programming in both museum buildings: Old City Hall and the Lightcatcher. Check out our website for each month's theme and schedule of events.

In December, ring in the holiday spirit with crafts and gifts galore. Still looking for the perfect present or want to give someone a one-of-a-kind treasure? Local artists will host workshops throughout the day where you can make, take, and give special goodies to friends and family.

Felt a pocket pal, design a mosaic ornament, learn the centuries old paper cutting technique of scherenschnitte, and more! In the evening, we’ll reprise our knit night with tunes supplied by jazz quarter Monk Slippers from 6 – 8 pm. Bring a project to work on and craft community during this all-ages celebration.

Starts: December 05, 2025

Time: 12 - 9 p.m. (FIG hours: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.)

Admission: Free!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
