Live Music for "Deck the Halls Festival"

Elea Plotkin will be playing piano in Whatcom Museum’s Old City Hall Rotunda Room on Dec. 13th and 20th, from 1 -3 p.m. for their ‘Deck the Halls Festival.’

Stop by and enjoy viewing decorated trees while listening to her enchanting traditional Carols, classical favorites, and light jazz. Legacy pianist, singer-songwriter, composer, recording artist, Elea Plotkin grew up with deep roots in Whatcom County’s South Fork Valley, where she attended Mt Baker High School, parents owned the Everybody’s Store. Elea will take you on a musical odyssey that soulfully weaves together the artists who influenced her music, including Carole King, Billie Holliday, George Gershwin, and the ground-breaking jazz improviser, Keith Jarrett.

With a passion for classic composers that shaped her technique as well, she’ll often sprinkle in lovely pieces by Chopin and Debussy, giving listeners a lovely mix to tickle any ear.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
