PNW Naturalist Series - Wilderness Skills with Northwest Natura (Day 1)

This series is for adult individuals at any skill level who are interested in ramping up their survival skills while having fun “surviving” outdoors and learning about plants, wildlife, fire craft, foraging, and ethnobotany. Each class will focus on both wilderness and naturalist skills to deepen your awareness of the natural world and empower you with practical knowledge and confidence in yourself out in PNW late winter conditions. 

Day 1: Ethnobotany, Water Purification, and Cooking Skills -Participants will learn basic fire-building skills, how to purify water and cook using stones and a basin, and practice coniferous tree ID. We will also learn medicinal benefits of evergreen plants (trees and shrubs) common to our area and how to use them in the wild.
