PNW Naturalist Series - Wilderness Skills w/ Northwest Natura (Day 2)
This series is designed for adult individuals at any skill level who are interested in ramping up their survival skills while having fun “surviving” outdoors and learning about plants, wildlife, fire craft, foraging, and ethnobotany. Each class will focus on both wilderness and naturalist skills to deepen your awareness of the natural world and empower you with practical knowledge and confidence in yourself out in PNW late winter conditions. Each class will build on the previous one.
Day 2 lessons: Knot-tying, Nature’s First Aid, and Natural Insect Repellents Participants will learn and practice at least 4 essential knots, and the basics of emergency shelter-building. We’ll go on a medicinal plant walk and craft a first aid salve that each person can take home or add to their first aid kit. Finally, we’ll create natural insect repellents together (a super helpful skill to have for upcoming spring and summer time!)
