MTB 302: Pumptrack Foundations and Progressions

MTB 302 is an intermediate group class designed to help riders build a strong foundation for pumptrack riding and learn progressions that improve flow, cornering, and jumping skills. Pumptracks are ridden without pedaling, using dynamic body movements to generate speed. Mastering this skill builds efficiency, confidence, and bike control that carries over to all types of mountain biking.

In this class, students will learn proper bike setup, athletic body position, and techniques for pumping rollers and corners to create momentum with options for more advanced progressions from there. While MTB 302 is part of our 300-level series and includes jumping fundamentals, jumping experience is not required. Riders focused on pumptrack skills, flow, and cornering will benefit regardless of airtime goals. Expect expert coaching, plenty of practice laps, fun homework, and demo bikes (if needed).

Registration closes the night before class starts.

Starts: February 27, 2026

Time: 4:30 p.m.

Location: Bellingham Pumptrack (sent upon registration)

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
