Out and About: Swans at Sunset
Out and About is a monthly queer affinity program organized by local nonprofit Wild Whatcom, we meet in different outdoor spots each month to get curious about local nature and build queer community! Outings are always facilitated by queer naturalists.
Join us on Valentines Day to explore a very special spot where we can often view the Tundra and Trumpeter Swans who visit our region exclusively in the winter. This area has a tall watch tower where we can observe the swans fly back to the lake where they spend the night after foraging in agricultural fields during the day. Even if we don't spot many Swans, this area offers incredible opportunities for nature observation, and we frequently see Barn Owls, Great Blue Herons, American bitterns, Foxes, Opossums, Raccoons and lots of other wildlife while we explore here during dusk!
Registration Required: Program is by donation/pay-what-you-can.
