Winter Twigs and Buds at Lookout Mountain

Join the Koma Kulshan Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society for a winter walk led by Abe Lloyd and Allan Richardson. The walk will emphasize identification of deciduous trees and shrubs based on their twigs and buds (copies of a key will be provided).

There is a diverse assortment of native and some non-native plants along the trails that we will explore. Bring a hand lens (if you have one), snacks, and dress for the weather. The number of spaces will be limited.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
