Songs of Resistance Pub Sing with Alex Sturbaum and Kevin Grgurich

What’s better than doomscrolling? Community and song! Here’s a chance to sing our way through the hard times, find our empowerment and our strength together.

Kevin Grgurich and Alex Sturbaum will lead some songs, but everyone is welcome to add their voice to the collective, join in the choruses and lead songs of their own.

Bring your voices, your songs, and your spirit of resistance! Kevin will also be leading an Irish tune session to follow, from 6-8 at the same location. And there will be a Sean-Nós (Old-style), Open Singing Session (Mostly in Irish or Gaelic; mostly solo) at this same location, the afternoon of Saturday Jan 24th, 3-5pm.

This is one of many events happening in the Bellingham Folk Festival, January 22-25. See https://www.thebellinghamfolkfestival.com/ for more details.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
