Foraging & Wildcrafting Workshop: Spruce, Nettles, & Allies with Northwest Natura

Join Naturalist, Jazmen Yoder on a gentle walk along the river for a wild edible plant walk and wildcrafting workshop this spring! In this course, learn to identify plants along the Nooksack River, and how to wildcraft your foraged finds into syrups, tinctures, and other nourishing recipes. Learn about the incredible nutritional value of wild plants of the Pacific Northwest, practice mindful foraging, ID plants and mushrooms, and take home wildcrafted foods and medicines you make from your foraged finds.

There is no elevation gain on this trail, but quite a bit of walking, and a nice period of sitting to craft our concoctions. Syrup-making supplies will be provided, but please bring your own jars (x2+).

Please register via the event website. Space is limited.

Starts: April 25, 2026

Time: 12:30 - 4:30 p.m.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
