Marimba Cafe! Concert in Support of Cultural and Music Education in Zimbabwe

The Bellingham Community Marimba Project is proud to present Marimba Cafe!- a fundraiser concert in support of Humwe and the Matanho Project, which support music and cultural education for youth and young women in Zimbabwe.

The evening will feature music by BCMP student groups, Rubatano (marimba from Whidbey Island) and the debut of Dandemutande: a Zim-inspired fusion band led by BCMP's director, Caden Davis. All bands will be delighted to share music taught to us by our Zimbabwean friends and teachers. This music is extremely high energy and upbeat-come prepared leave it all out on dance floor!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
