"Local Legends" - Bob Storms and Bill MacDonough

The music selected for this "get-together” style concert is from the 1940s, and features the music of Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw. Songs will be a bit different in length as in the days of 78 speed records the 3 minute recordings are a bit different because of limitations of the records. Most of the solo work will be by Bill MacDonough on the piano, and Bob Storms on clarinet.

You might notice that the only “music” on stage will be our list of songs. There won’t be a rehearsal, it’s a concert strictly off-the-cuff. Songs for the concert will be played by a jazz quartet made up of two other musicians, Jud Sherwood, and Tom Anastasio. They will fill out the quartet, and should be considered “local legends" as well for their work in playing jazz over many years in our county.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
