Natural Dyes & Herbal Sachet Wildcrafting Workshop with Northwest Natura

Please join naturalist and botanist, Jazmen Yoder for a day of foraging and wildcrafting in this indoor/outdoor workshop. This course will focus on teaching you how to dye wool with nature’s offerings.

*Pre-treatment steps will be discussed at length during our lesson so that everyone knows exactly how to treat fabric before using natural dye in the future. We’ll spend some time outside during the first portion of this course looking for plants, mushrooms, and lichen that can be used to make natural dyes. We will forage for multiple dye plant species while we’re out and take the materials back to the venue to process and begin the second portion of the workshop.

Back at the Chuckanut Center around 4pm, we’ll use the kitchen to craft several natural dyes together. Each person will be provided with two sheets of white, pretreated wool fabric.

*Registration and more info via the event website. Space is limited.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
