Retro Mall Portrait Minis: Awkward Family Photos

Let's get awkward on purpose. Think Sears Portrait Studio. Think Glamour Shots. Think soft focus, stiff shoulders, and emotional intensity that does not match the situation. These are intentionally awkward, hilariously dramatic portraits you can proudly frame without explaining. This is your permission slip to recreate the awkward studio portraits you grew up with or the ones you absolutely deserved. Come solo, bring a partner, bring the kids, or bring the most chaotic group of friends you can assemble. Big hair, denim, turtlenecks, power blazers, feather boas, mall goth eyeliner, and matching outfits are strongly encouraged.

Sessions are short, fun, and designed to capture peak retro mall portrait energy. Space is limited and advance booking is required.

Starts: May 24, 2026

Time: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Admission: $200

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
