Afternoon Bird Walk: Whatcom Falls

Curious about birds and the incredible species we have here in the Pacific Northwest? Join professional naturalist and experienced birder Kate Brown for a relaxed Friday afternoon bird walk at Whatcom Falls.

We will chat about what to look and listen for while birding, discuss some of the common species we are likely to spot in this park and what makes them unique - then meander the trails while birding and chatting.

Bring any binoculars you might own (I own a few to share!). This park is frequented by Belted Kingfishers, Osprey, and diverse songbirds.

Accessibility Note: We will be meeting at the entrance to Whatcom Falls located at 1401 Electric Avenue - directly across from Lafeen's Donuts. The trails we will be exploring are a mixture of flat and inclined hills, and the trail surface is made up of hard packed dirt, pavement and gravel.

Starts: March 27, 2026

Time: 4 - 5:30 p.m.

Admission: $20

Location: Whatcom Falls Park

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
