Beginning Wheel Throwing

This introductory wheel throwing course is designed for students with little to no prior experience. Participants will learn the fundamentals of working on the pottery wheel, including centering clay, throwing basic forms such as cylinders and bowls, and simple trimming techniques. The class emphasizes hands-on practice, skill-building, and experimentation in a supportive community art center environment. Surface decoration and glazing basics will be introduced, with a focus on building confidence, developing good studio habits, and enjoying the process of making functional ceramic work.
