Naturalist Hike - Seaweeds of the Salish Sea w/ Northwest Natura
Join Jazmen Yoder, Salish Sea Naturalist on the beach to learn about seaweeds and other presentations of nature we might find! We’ll follow the tide out (12:36pm lowest) and will see all 3 classes of seaweed (green, brown, and red) in their prostrate and floating habitats. You will learn how to identify them and their ethnophycology (human uses of seaweeds) + ethics & safety around foraging + historical and cultural importance intertidal ecosystems.
This is a naturalist “hike” but it’s more like a wander - expect to focus on seaweeds, but also learn about wildlife including track & sign, native plants, and natural history of the PNW. Sorry, no pets!
