Birch Bay's Kids Kite Festival

The Birch Bay Kids Kite Festival is a vibrant, family-friendly celebration held each summer at Birch Bay State Park. This free, two-day event fills the shoreline with colorful, easy-to-fly kites soaring over the bay, creating a lively coastal experience for all ages.

Kids and families can enjoy hands-on kite making and flying, interactive entertainment, live performances, and engaging educational activities. Local craft and food vendors add to the festive atmosphere, making it easy to spend the day by the water.

This event invites everyone to experience the simple joy of a gentle breeze, creativity, and community along one of Whatcom County’s most beautiful beaches.

Discover Pass is required for parking $10/day or $45/year.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
