Trees of the Pacific Northwest with Northwest Natura

Learn to identify native trees of the Pacific Northwest. Conifers or flowering, evergreen or deciduous. Trail TBA - but very likely Larrabee State Park.

Join me on the beautiful coastline for an immersive tree ID workshop. The first hour or so of this course will be a sit-down, guided note-taking session, followed by a walk in the woods with breath-taking views of the Salish Sea. You will walk away with memorable mnemonics to help you recall names of trees based on their features, habitat, smell, and subtle quirks in this fun outing designed for adult learning.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
