Channel One Sound System

Last US date to experience Channel One Sound System! Legendary Jamaican sounds brought to you by original selector Mikey Dread and MC Ras Sherby…CHANNEL ONE SOUND SYSTEM! Limited US dates for this amazing night of culture, 100% Vinyl records and community. With support from local selector DJ Nu.

All respect to Culture Yard International for all you do to connect international artists with the NW. History! Established in the late 1970s by siblings Michael and Trevor Bailey, Channel One SoundSystem originated when they were passed control of their father’s Admiral Bailey sound.

They introduced the sound to nearby blues parties and dance events. The choice of the name Channel One was a tribute to the iconic Channel One studio in Jamaica, a place from which the brothers procured many of their records.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
