Naturalist Hike- Edible & Medicinal Plants with Northwest Natura

This will be a slow “hike” with little to no elevation gain. Come out to “get your steps in” while learning about fungi, flora, and fauna from local botanist and naturalist, Jazmen Yoder. In this course we will primarily focus on medicinal and edible species of plants we come across, but these “naturalist hikes” are open to pivot to anything that interests the group including fungi finds, wildlife sign, and anything to do with ecology, ethnobotany, wildcrafting, and more.

Northwest Natura’s Naturalist Hikes happen year-round and are a wonderful way to meet new people or sign up to do something with your friend(s). Please register via the event website. Space is limited.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
