Birchwood Garden Club September Meeting

Birchwood Garden Club Established 1931 - Bellingham, Washington. Planting Seeds of Friendship throughout our Community.

September Topic: “Ideas for American Gardens from England” with Karen Chapman. The first meeting of the Birchwood Garden Club’s 2026-27 season will be held September 2, 2026, in the Rotunda Room of the Old City Hall Museum.

The speaker will be Karen Chapman of Le jardinet, who was born in England and, as she puts it, grew up with a trowel in her hand. She moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1996, and since then has worked for leading garden nurseries and established her business, Le jardinet, to provide garden design services. Karen offers workshop events, publications, and online learning opportunities as well as leading garden tours in Great Britain, United States, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand with a special focus on her native England.

You are invited to join us at our monthly meetings held in the Rotunda Room of the Whatcom Museum, featuring guest speakers on current gardening topics. Check out our website, www.birchwoodgardenclub.org or join us on Instagram and Facebook @ Birchwood Garden Club.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
