Ecosystem Awareness: Naturalist Scavenger Hunt with Northwest Natura
Join Naturalist, Jazmen Yoder on a gentle walk through the woods to learn about edible and medicinal plants and fungi, lichen that you can use for dyes or medicines, how to ID nests and other signs birds leave behind, wildlife track ID, tree ID, and so much more in the first 2.5 hours of this intriguing class offering on everything nature!
In the last half of class, you’ll be set loose to complete a 20 to 25-item scavenger hunt that includes whimsical finds like peculiarly shaped sticks and stones, nests or burrows, wildlife tracks, edible or medicinal plants (maybe you’re given a specific plant, maybe you’re given a “first aid need” that you have to find a plant for), and mushrooms of course! You’ll have gained the knowledge in the first part of class to be able to correctly identify all the things on the scavenger hunt.
This course takes place on Thanksgiving weekend - bring just yourself, a friend or family member out to spend some time in nature. Please register via event site!
