Power of Connection: Mitigate the Impacts of Childhood Trauma, Increase Resilience and Hope

Two Evenings of Knowledge & Skills Building! This training is resilience-informed. It provides information on healing the impacts of toxic stress and childhood trauma for self and others.

The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Study is one of the largest public health discoveries of our time. ACEs reliably predict population mental, physical, and behavioral health- as well as many social and environmental challenges. However, the ACEs study has limitations that will be explored in this training, as well as the impact of positive childhood experiences and the ability of the brain to adapt and heal - informed by current brain science and resilience research findings.

This training will benefit practitioners and professionals across human and social services, law enforcement, corrections, education, and healthcare. Family members and interested community members are also highly encouraged to attend!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
