Beginning Tapestry Weaving

Join us as we explore the basic techniques of tapestry weaving! This class is designed for individuals who have little or no previous experience in textile weaving as well as those who want to continue to learn new techniques and complete a more complicated design. 

In this class, you will create and complete a small tapestry using a frame loom. You will learn how to warp the loom and apply basic weaving techniques to create angles, lines, and other shapes. In addition, you will learn basic color blending techniques such as hatching and pick n’ pick in addition to some basic stitching techniques. All supplies and looms are provided for this class. 

Materials Fee: $20 paid to the instructor on the first day of class. Materials to Bring: All materials needed are supplied for the class including looms, yarn, needles, scissors warp string etc. Students are free to bring their own looms, but they must be warped in advance to a sett of 8 warp per inch and be approximately 4-5 inches in width. Students may also bring their own worsted weight yarn and other supplies such as scissors, a tape measure, and 4-5 inch tapestry needles.
