Jazz Center of Bellingham - The Ann Reynolds Jazztet

The Ann Reynolds Jazztet came together in 2025 to explore Carla Bley's and Ann Reynolds' compositions. The current work follows up on the study and presentations that Ann Reynolds did on women composers in the past few years. The very talented and highly respected musicians of this group give a wonderful engaging concert of the music of women composers.

Band members bring their experience in many jazz styles from straight-ahead, funk, Afro-Cuban, and free playing to this project. At times, mellow and heart- melting sounds, at other times raucous high energy are heard from woodwinds Jessica Lurie (alto saxophone and flute) and Tobi Stone (tenor). A strong grounding comes from Geoff Harper on bass, and the most fascinating rhythms come from Chris Icasiano. Ann Reynolds' sensitive touch on the piano and accessible compositions complete this picture. This band listens to and plays off each other beautifully.
