Naturalist Hike - Trees & Wildlife with Northwest Natura

Join me in December for a walk in the woods to admire all kinds of wildlife, flora, and fungi thriving in an old growth forest, just outside of Bellingham.

This is a walk in the woods where we’ll be stopping a lot to identify plants including edible and medicinal varieties, any wildlife tracks or sign we come upon, and fungi we see.

This course will be focused on trees and wildlife, but as with any “Naturalist Hike” with Northwest Natura, the course content is developed as we go.

This is a great way to meet new friends or just quietly enjoy learning a ton about local flora, fauna, and fungi. What to bring: Dress for the weather | Snacks and water | Notepad and pen (optional) | Hand lens (optional)

Please register via the event website.

Time: 12 - 3:30 p.m.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
