Meet the Archivists: An Archives Building Open House

In celebration of Archives Month, Western Libraries Archives & Special Collections and the Washington State Archives will host an Open House at the Goltz-Murray Archives Building (on South campus at 808 25th Street) from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. This event is free and open to the public.

Washington State Archives Month is an annual, statewide event held each October to raise public awareness and highlight the value of historical records and collections throughout the state. Archives Month provides an opportunity for archival institutions and other organizations to engage with their communities and showcase the state's rich historical records.

During the Open House, archivists and librarians will give introductions and answer questions about collections, archival research, career pathways, and the field of archives and special collections. Attendees can explore samples from the collections and behind-the-scenes tours will also be offered.

Time: 2 - 4 p.m.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
