Bellingham Chamber Music Society at the Hotel Leo: Sublime

Join the Bellingham Chamber Music Society for an afternoon of chamber music. Today's performance features a work by Jean Francaix. Dedicated to the memory of Franz Schubert, Francaix’s 'Octet A Huit' was premiered in Vienna in 1972 as an opener for the Schubert Octet and scored for the same instrumentation. Paired with the Francaix, is Schubert’s String Quintet in C major, the “Cello Quintet”. This was the final chamber work composed by Schubert - just two months before his death. It is now considered among the greatest chamber works of all time. Join us and stay for our reception to enjoy community with fellow audience members and our musicians.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
