The Quartertones - An Evening of Arabic Music

Founded with a passion for preserving and sharing the rich traditions of Middle Eastern music, The Quartertones brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the beauty and artistry of Arabic music.

Inspired by expressive melodies, intricate rhythms, and the fascinating world of maqamat—the melodic modes that give Arabic music its distinctive character—the ensemble performs beloved Arabic classics, traditional instrumental works, and original arrangements. Through a variety of musical styles, The Quartertones takes audiences on a journey through the sounds, moods, and cultural landscapes of the Middle East.

Whether introducing new listeners to Arabic music or welcoming those who have cherished it for years, The Quartertones strives to inspire curiosity, foster cultural appreciation, and celebrate music as a bridge between cultures.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
