Family Outdoor Exploration: Birds in Winter

Meet at Cornwall Park to learn all about the birds that call the park home for winter in this hands-on outdoor adventure for the whole family. Please register on the website!

There are over a dozen species of birds that winter in the park, from obvious ones like the crow to lesser known birds like the brown creeper and golden crowned kinglet.

We’ll play some simple bird themed games, learn to identify them by sight and sound, and go for a walk through the forest to put our skills to the test. Binoculars are not required, but bring them if you have them.

Starts: November 21, 2026

Time: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Admission: Free!

Location: Cornwall Park
3424 Meridian St., Bellingham, WA 98225

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
