Farmtunes Offering Free Concerts at Bellewood Farms and Distillery

Farmtunes, an eight-week series of free concerts featuring bluegrass, folk, pop and country music, begins Friday, July 10 at Whatcom County’s Bellewood Farms & Distillery.

The family friendly concerts with outdoor and indoor seating from 6-9 p.m. Fridays feature artists from throughout the Pacific Northwest. Farmtunes begins July 10 with Queen’s Bluegrass. Folk/pop duo Tailor Made blends great harmonies with acoustic guitar, mandolin and harmonica on July 17. Bellingham-based North Country Highway, one of the area’s most popular Americana bands, performs July 24.

The other acts are “American Idol” singer-songwriter Mike Edel from Canada, July 31; upbeat jazz, gospel, R&B and more from Checo Tohomaso, Aug. 7; contemporary Celtic band Steeplechase, Aug. 14; talented folk duo Handsome and Gretyl, Aug. 21; and country/rock/pop cover band Gladstone, Aug. 28.

“These talented performers are great to enjoy on a summer evening relaxing outdoors on the patio with a beautiful view of Mt. Baker or staying inside with a glass of beer, wine or hard cider,” said Eric Abel, president of Bellewood Farms. “Young children can play outside within sight of parents and everyone can start the weekend with delicious dinners and desserts at the Ten Mile Café.”

Bellewood Farms is located at 6140 Guide Meridian, Lynden, about seven miles away from Bellingham, Ferndale and Lynden. Free samples of farm-made spirits are served in the distillery’s tasting room. For more information about Bellewood Farms, call (360) 318-7720 or visit www.bellewoodfarms.com.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
