Get Onboard with Skagit Tours in North Cascades National Park

Experience the North Cascades up close!

Skagit Tours offers three options for exploring the majestic North Cascades mountains and stunning Diablo Lake.

Each cruise allows you unique access onto glacier-fed Diablo Lake, where you’ll learn about the area's history, wildlife, and geology while taking in views of snow-clad mountain peaks, islands and waterfalls. The tour even takes you to places hidden from view when traveling the highway or trails.

Your tour will come alive with stories about the early explorers and settlers in the area and the challenges of building the three Skagit River Hydroelectric Project dams and powerhouses in a very remote location.

Your adventure begins by boarding the Alice Ross IV – a modern watercraft designed especially for Skagit Tours by Rozema Boatworks in Bayview, Washington. The boat features heating and air conditioning, and drinking water as well as an onboard bathroom, and the cabin’s roof is mostly glass to allow for the best possible views. A 14-foot open aft deck also allows passengers to enjoy the tour from outside.

On each cruise, you will learn about the area's natural history, including biodiversity and geology, as well as the unique relationship between the North Cascades environment and the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project, which provides clean, low-cost, renewable power to the citizens of Seattle. The history of the Project and the area’s indigenous inhabitants are also included in this multifaceted cruise.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
