Historic Inn at Lynden Unveils New Event Venue Rübus in Downtown Lynden

The Inn at Lynden, a 35-room boutique hotel in the historic Waples Mercantile Building, has unveiled three newly renovated gathering spaces designed to accommodate events ranging from small meetings to weddings and large celebrations from across Whatcom County and the surrounding region.

The Edson Room, accommodating six to eight guests, features soft seating, a dining and work area, and a hospitality bar—making it ideal for small, private gatherings.

The Waples Room accommodates 12 to 20 guests and offers executive-style seating, a speaker’s podium, and a 75-inch high-definition presentation monitor, making it well suited for board meetings, presentations, and small corporate events.

Rübus, with a capacity of 50 to 160 guests, is an industrial-chic event venue ideal for larger gatherings such as weddings, art and fashion shows, conferences, fundraisers, proms, photo shoots, and milestone celebrations. The space features old-growth timber construction, polished concrete floors, festive lighting, and a central service bar that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for memorable events.

With its flexible layout and distinctive historic character, Rübus is poised to become a sought-after venue for weddings and large gatherings throughout Whatcom County. Event planners can also take advantage of the Inn’s boutique accommodations, providing convenient lodging for wedding parties, visiting families, and out-of-town guests.

“We wanted a name for our new gathering space that was fun, memorable, and rooted in our community,” said Teri Treat, co-owner of the Inn at Lynden. “Rubus—the scientific genus for the red raspberry—felt like the perfect fit.” The name pays tribute to Lynden’s deep agricultural roots and its nationally recognized raspberry industry.

The Inn at Lynden’s new gathering spaces are now available for reservations and private events. For more information about hosting an event at the Inn at Lynden or Rübus, visit innatlynden.com or contact the Inn directly at 360-746-8597.

About the Inn at Lynden

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Inn at Lynden is renowned for its historic hospitality and luxurious accommodations. The boutique inn features contemporary, casually elegant rooms that preserve architectural elements original to the turn-of-the-century Waples Mercantile Building.

Guests enjoy complimentary refreshments, premium tea and coffee service, free Wi-Fi and parking, and passes to nearby health clubs and pools, the Lynden Heritage Museum, and a neighboring yoga studio. As a signature amenity, guests are also invited to explore Lynden on the Inn’s Dutch-inspired bicycles.

The Inn shares its historic building with an award-winning bookstore, a women’s clothing boutique, and a café and tap house. Together, these distinctive merchants—along with the Inn—create a guest experience that is comfortable, convenient, and entertaining, all under one roof.

Located in the heart of Lynden in Whatcom County, the Inn provides a welcoming base for visitors exploring Northwest Washington, the Canadian border region, and the nearby San Juan Islands.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
