Vegan Food in Bellingham and Whatcom County

Vegan and stressed about traveling? Worry no more. Bellingham and Whatcom County are full of tasty vegan treats at numerous restaurants. Don’t spend your time worrying about what to eat, instead worry about making time to try it all! 


1. Old Town Cafe

Old Town Cafe is known for its incredible breakfast and brunch options. They have something for everyone including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. 

Old Town is not only one of the oldest businesses in Bellingham it is also located in one of the oldest buildings in Downtown. It is located inside the Oakland Block building, which was built in 1890 and is now listed on the National Historic Register.

2. Wild Oat Bakery & Cafe

As you explore the restaurant scene in Bellingham, you will notice several of them offer a seasonal menu. Wild Oats Bakery works on the same idea. Using seasonal local ingredients to have the freshest menu possible, Wild Oats offers a variety of vegan burgers, salads, wraps and sandwiches. 

If you’re looking for a recommendation, the french dip sandwich has been the talk of town since their grand opening in the summer of 2018. 


3. Big Love Juice

Big Love Juice invites everyone who comes to their store to learn more about the world of superfood. Specializing in serving the freshest ingredients around, Big Love uses locally sourced produce in order to keep Bellingham locals happy and healthy. 

Big Love’s menu includes juice shots, smoothies, locally sourced coffee and a variety of morning and Acai bowls. Visit Big Love Juice’s official website to find out where they get their ingredients and which menu item each ingredient is included in.

4. Leaf & Ladle

Leaf & Ladle is on a mission to provide Bellingham with a never ending supply of amazingly fresh food. Featuring an ever changing menu, they offer a variety of soups, salads, paninis and wraps made from the produce of that season. 

With the motto of  “whether you’re a meat eater, vegan, gluten free or just plain hungry, we want to feed you” Leaf & Ladle is worth checking out.


5. Cosmos Bistro

Chief Cinnamon pulls out all the stops to provide vegan guests with dining experience you’ll never forget. Enjoy traditional comfort food with a local spin.

Cosmos Bistro serves up a variety of breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner options that all align with Cosmos’ commitment. “Use as much locally and ethically sourced ingredients as possible when making kick a** food with and for kick a** people!”

6. La Fiamma Pizza (YAY Vegan Cheese!)

La Fiamma has been in Downtown Bellingham in 1998. They have remained a B’ham favorite and have even won awards for Best Recipe by the National Association of Pizza Operators. 

Head to Downtown for one of  La Fiamma’s delicious pizzas and turn it into a tasty vegan treat thanks to their vegan cheese. 


7. Electric Beet Juice Co.

Electric Beet Juice was inspired by the Bellingham community. They are on a mission to provide Bellingham with 100% organic, creatively designed food, juices and smoothies. If you feel good, you’ll do good! They offer a large variety of juices, shooters as well as, lunch and dinner options.


8. Aslan Brewing Co.

While Aslan may be known for their beer, the food will take your breath away. Aslan works to provide customers with 100% organic brews and food that focus and use local resources.

Their vegan options include Korean BBQ Tofu, Spicy Yam Tacos and the Yambanzo Burger.

9. Pepper Sisters

This family-friendly upbeat Mexican style restaurant is a must try for vegans. Not only do they have a large variety of vegan dishes, they will also modify any item on the menu!

Pepper Sisters was opened in 1988 and has worked to perfect a menu that they described as “New Mexico meets Pacific Northwest.” 


10. Black Sheep

Black Sheep specializes in margaritas with a light menu of fresh delicious tacos on homemade tortillas. Like many other restaurants in Bellingham, Black Sheep is dedicated to making food from scratch with fresh local ingredients.

Taco list includes vegan options made with cauliflower and sweet potatoes.

Ready for dessert? We suggest heading to Mallards Ice Cream or Pure Bliss! Both have a variety of delicious vegan sweets.
